BA (HONS) IN TECHNICAL THEATRE & STAGE MANAGEMENT
FEES AND FUNDING
Tuition fees for UK/EU students applying for the BA (Hons) in Technical Theatre and Stage Management will be no less than £9,250* (*subject to formal parliamentary approval and further increase in subsequent years in line with government policy).
Fees are set by the Conservatoire for Dance and Drama (CDD). The Conservatoire is a publicly-funded institution. This means that UK and EU students are eligible for government-sponsored loans and grants as well as financial aid provided by the Conservatoire and schools. Applications are direct to the school, not through UCAS, and this does not affect the ability to obtain financial support.
Information about the fees for UK/EU students and the financial support available through the Conservatoire's Scholarship Scheme and through Government grants and loans can be found on the Conservatoire's website.
UK and EU FEES
As noted above, these will be not less than £9,250. RADA welcomes applications from students who already hold a degree and has a number of places at the home/EU rate for such students. Second degree students are not eligible for government-sponsored loans or grants. They are eligible for RADA Scholarship support (see below for more information).
COSTS NOT INCLUDED IN THE FEES
If you do not already own them from prior courses, you will need to purchase some equipment and clothes (including appropriate boots). We estimate the overall costs of materials for the programme to be not more than £400.
OVERSEAS TUITION FEES
Non-EU international are students are required to pay the full cost of their fee and living costs and made an offer on the basis of paying privately. However, all funding issues are discussed individually with each student once an offer has been made. Fees for 2018-9 have yet to be agreed, but will not be less than £18,100. Further information about fee rates for non-EU international students will be available from RADA and on the Conservatoire website, once agreed. Please check our website regularly for updates.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
APPLICATION FEES
RADA charges an application fee for all courses. Our admissions process is not automated and may involve significant contact with an individual applicant. We do not refund application fees. Please see our Admissions Policy for further information.
APPLICATION FEE WAIVERS
UK students who are coming to higher education for the first time, with a family income of less than £25,000 may be eligible for an audition fee waiver and for financial support with travelling to later-stage auditions or interviews.
You will need to submit a fee waiver application at the same time as your programme application to be considered. This is based on your household income, and we will ask you to provide evidence of that income.
This is in addition to fee waivers offered by the Conservatoire for Dance and Drama, which you may use at RADA or at another CDD school, see here. RADA fee waivers are only available for applicants applying to RADA.
TRAVEL BURSARIES
All UK/EU students new to HE students who meet one of the following criteria may be considered for a travel bursary at third or fourth round of the BA (Hons) Acting or an interview for our Technical Theatre Arts programmes. The criteria are:
You attended a state school AND one or more of the following:
- Your family income is less than £43,000 and your home address is in a neighbourhood with low participation (in accordance with the HEFCE Polar4 Postcode Check)
- Your family income is below £25,000
- You will be considered to be a care leaver when you begin your training
Home and EU students new to higher education can apply to Student Finance England / Wales, NI, or Student Awards Agency Scotland for a loan to cover their fees and be assessed for a maintenance grant depending on their personal or family income. Students who already have a degree are not eligible for maintenance loans and will need funding from other sources to pay for their living expenses. Graduates may be eligible to apply for a Career Development Loan which is available to all UK/EU students except those on the RADA Foundation Course in Acting. For more alternative sources of funding visit the CDD website.
RADA Scholarships
All RADA undergraduate students who are new to higher education are immediately eligible for financial support through the Conservatoire for Dance and Drama’s scholarship scheme. RADA aims to “top up” these scholarships, which are based on income assessments for people with a family income of under £42,875. Amounts may vary, as RADA raises funds for these scholarships, but for the last two years, the amount offered to each eligible student has been a minimum of £3,000 per year (inclusive of the CDD support).
RADA will consider other home/EU students for financial support and we have a very small number of scholarships which will cover fees and, in some cases, living costs. Our priority is supporting students on undergraduate degrees (BA Acting, FdA/BA Technical Theatre and Stage Management), although we will consider applications from students on the MA Theatre Lab and the PgD Theatre Costume in exceptional circumstances. Please note, we do not usually offer scholarships to students from outside the UK or EU.
Students will be invited to apply for scholarship support once the offer of a place is made. Please keep an eye on the website for more information about our Scholarship Scheme.
HOME STUDENT STATUS
There are strict regulations regarding residency which must be met in order to qualify for Home Student status. All EU students who are offered a place at RADA are required to verify their EU status prior to the offer of the place being confirmed.
